Estimator – Water & Civil Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a leading infrastructure business delivering major water and civil engineering projects across the UK. You will work within a dedicated bid and pre‑construction team, providing accurate cost estimates that help secure new work on pipelines, tunnelling, shafts, MEICA, rail civils and groundworks.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for complex infrastructure projects.
• Review and interpret PQQ and ITT documentation.
• Carry out quantity take‑offs and analyse Bills of Quantities.
• Develop risk, opportunity and key assumptions registers.
• Collaborate with planning, operational and commercial teams to define delivery methodologies.
• Produce and present estimate adjudication packs.
• Support tender clarifications, customer negotiations and procurement liaison.
• Provide comprehensive handovers to delivery teams after contract award.

Required profile

• Proven experience using Candy estimating software.
• Background in civil engineering infrastructure projects, preferably within water, pipelines, tunnelling, shafts, MEICA, rail civils or groundworks.
• Strong understanding of construction methodologies and resource requirements.
• Experience preparing tender build‑ups and detailed estimates.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• High organisational and commercial awareness.
