Excel Engineer - Front Office Investment Solutions

About the role

We are seeking an Excel Engineer to join a technology solutions team supporting front‑office investment professionals at a leading multi‑strategy hedge fund in London. The role focuses on designing, building and maintaining sophisticated Excel‑based tools that streamline trading, research and portfolio management workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain Excel applications, models and add‑ins used by traders, analysts and portfolio managers.
• Provide day‑to‑day user support, troubleshooting, and training for critical Excel workflows.
• Optimise workbook performance, calculation speed and stability of complex spreadsheets.
• Build automation and data integration between Excel and enterprise data platforms.
• Investigate production issues, perform root‑cause analysis and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing and supporting Excel‑based tools in a financial services environment.
• Hands‑on experience working directly with front‑office stakeholders such as traders and analysts.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and experience supporting production systems.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (advanced, performance optimisation)
• C# and .NET development
• VBA programming (beneficial)
• Excel‑DNA for building add‑ins
• SQL
• Python (advantageous)
