Experienced 360 Excavator Operator – Drainage Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced 360 Excavator Operator to join our Internal & External Drainage Gang on major groundwork and infrastructure projects in Hailsham. You will operate 14‑tonne+ tracked excavators to install foul, storm and surface‑water drainage systems while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate 14T+ 360‑tracked excavators for internal and external drainage works.
• Excavate trenches for foul water, storm water, attenuation and service drainage installations.
• Collaborate with pipelayers and topmen to ensure safe, accurate pipe placement.
• Trim stone, backfill and maintain trench levels and gradients to drawings and laser levels.
• Install and lift drainage components such as pipes, manholes, chambers, trench boxes and sheets.
• Follow permit‑to‑dig procedures and work safely around live services.
• Perform daily pre‑start inspections, safety checks and basic machine maintenance.
• Keep machines clean, fuelled, greased and well‑maintained.

Required profile

• CPCS/NPORS 360 Excavator certification (CSCS‑affiliated) with hologram.
• Additional CPCS/NPORS cards for crane/lifting, forward‑tipping dumper, ride‑on roller, telehandler and quick‑hitch attachment.
• 5+ years’ experience operating 14T+ excavators on drainage and deep‑excavation projects.
• Strong understanding of internal and external drainage systems and groundwork operations.
• Safety‑critical medical card (site specific) and right to work in the UK.
• Reliable, punctual and safety‑conscious with good communication skills.
