Finance Assistant – 3-Month Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team on a three‑month fixed‑term basis. This hybrid role offers the chance to work on a variety of bookkeeping tasks in a fast‑paced environment while supporting the wider finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
• Perform bank reconciliations and investigate any discrepancies.
• Support credit control activities and monitor outstanding balances.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Process accruals and pre‑payments as part of month‑end closing.
• Assist with payroll administration and related finance tasks.
• Provide ad‑hoc reporting and analysis for the finance team.
• Help improve finance processes where appropriate.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Finance Assistant or similar role.
• Strong all‑round bookkeeping knowledge.
• Experience with bank reconciliations, VAT returns, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Exposure to payroll processes is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload within a short‑term contract.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Xero accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills.
