Finance Assistant – Manchester

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing business to hire a Finance Assistant for their collaborative, commercial finance team in Manchester. The role offers hands‑on exposure to month‑end, reporting, operational finance and process improvement, providing a platform to broaden finance experience beyond pure transactional tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end processes including accruals, pre‑payments, reconciliations and expense reviews.
• Manage company card and employee expense processes, chase receipts and liaise with stakeholders.
• Act as a key point of contact between the business and external teams.
• Support fixed‑asset processing and finance administration within Xero.
• Assist with daily and weekly reporting updates for the wider business.
• Raise and issue customer sales invoices.
• Support stock and warehouse invoice reviews, including PO matching and cost analysis administration.
• Maintain accurate finance records and help improve existing processes and controls.

Required profile

• Some previous finance or accounting experience, preferably in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good understanding of core finance processes such as accounts payable, reconciliations and month‑end.
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive, adaptable and eager to learn.
• Strong communication skills and confidence building relationships across the business.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
