Finance Director

About the role

Harper May Ltd is seeking a Finance Director to lead the financial function of its fast‑growing media and events business. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will combine strategic oversight with hands‑on management to support a portfolio of large‑scale conferences, festivals and branded experiences across the UK and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute financial strategy aligned with board growth and investment priorities.
• Lead financial planning, forecasting and analysis for multiple event portfolios and revenue streams.
• Own P&L responsibility for individual events and venues, driving cost control and margin optimisation.
• Build, mentor and scale the finance team, establishing robust processes and financial discipline.
• Oversee statutory accounts, tax planning, audit and regulatory compliance.
• Provide clear financial insight to the Board and act as a trusted advisor to the CEO.
• Manage working capital, cash flow and banking relationships.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with at least seven years in senior finance leadership.
• Proven experience in media, entertainment, events, hospitality or venue management.
• Demonstrated strength in financial modelling, scenario planning and commercial insight.
• Track record of building and developing finance teams in growth‑stage businesses.
• Comfortable communicating with non‑financial stakeholders and presenting to Board level.
