Finance Team Leader

About the role

RM Recruit is partnering with a third‑sector organisation in Birmingham to hire a Finance Team Leader on a full‑time permanent basis. The role is office‑based (Monday‑Friday) with the possibility of one day remote after a successful six‑month probation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a small finance team.
• Oversee the sales ledger, ensuring timely invoicing and credit control.
• Manage the purchase ledger, processing invoices accurately and making supplier payments on time.
• Run the end‑to‑end payroll process in line with statutory requirements.
• Assist with month‑end procedures, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Monitor cash flow and maintain accurate financial records.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures and legislation.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the Head of Finance on projects and reporting.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a finance supervisory or team‑leader position.
• Excellent organisational ability and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience using finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
• AAT qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMA is desirable but not essential.
