Financial Accounting Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to lead our financial reporting and cash management functions in Birmingham. The successful candidate will ensure accurate statutory accounts, compliance with IFRS, and provide strategic insight to senior leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Control cash and treasury functions, including weekly cash‑flow reporting, bank reconciliations and deposit placement.
• Prepare and submit internal and external periodic financial reports, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
• Coordinate the production of annual statutory accounts, liaising with auditors and professional advisers to meet deadlines.
• Calculate corporation and deferred tax, working with advisers to ensure timely filing.
• Provide board and management accounts, variance analysis on balance‑sheet items, cash flow and debtor movements.
• Maintain reconciliations between Group and statutory accounting bases and produce technical papers for year‑end accounts.
• Review and sign‑off journals and balance‑sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance with Group policies and accounting standards.
• Design and implement control procedures, driving continuous improvement and mentoring the finance team.
• Manage financial review frameworks for new suppliers and advise on commercial matters.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post‑qualification experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS for year‑end reporting and day‑to‑day balance‑sheet accounting.
• Proven experience in treasury management and group reporting processes.
• Hands‑on experience with corporation tax and deferred tax calculations.
• Ability to produce detailed variance analysis and technical documentation.
