Financial Controller

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Financial Controller to become the operational backbone of our finance function. Reporting to the CFO, you will own the integrity of our numbers, drive month‑end close and build the controls that enable rapid scaling across the UK, US and EU.

Key responsibilities

• Own month‑end close and deliver accurate management accounts with commentary.
• Maintain a clean, well‑reconciled balance sheet and multi‑currency accounting.
• Design and operate a financial controls framework as the business scales.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payment runs, billing accuracy and credit control.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash‑flow planning and report on key metrics such as margin and GMV‑linked revenue.
• Manage VAT returns, statutory filings and payroll to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Improve and automate finance systems and processes.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or equivalent) with a Big 4 background.
• 3‑6 years of experience, including a commercial/industry finance role.
• Strong technical accounting skills and a controls‑led mindset.
• Experience in a digital agency, ecommerce or high‑growth scale‑up environment.
• Hands‑on, pragmatic and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, low‑bureaucracy setting.

Required skills

• Cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite or similar).
• Advanced Excel and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Drive).
• AI tools such as Claude for analysis and automation.
• Multi‑currency accounting, VAT, statutory reporting and payroll.
• Budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.
