Fire Assay Laboratory Technician

About the role

Join Bureau Veritas Commodities as a Fire Assay Laboratory Technician in Witham, supporting the Metals & Minerals Division. This hands‑on position involves preparing samples for analysis in a furnace environment, offering full training and a clear pathway to a long‑term career.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately weigh and prepare samples for analysis.
• Mix samples using specialised equipment and extracted cupboards.
• Load samples into crucibles and operate furnace processes.
• Melting materials and pour small quantities into moulds.
• Handle materials safely using pump trucks and related equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment while following strict quality, safety and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• Excellent attention to detail.
• Positive and reliable approach to work.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm).
• GCSE Maths or Science (Grade C/4 or above).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
