About the role

The Fire Service College (FSC) is transforming its curriculum to a hybrid delivery model that leverages its unique assets and facilities while maintaining high‑quality theoretical learning. We are seeking a Fire Craft Instructor to join the Learning Delivery and Transformation Team, bringing innovation and expertise to our blended learning approach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver professional teaching across FSC courses, fire & rescue service qualifications, and private‑sector training.
• Provide constructive feedback to delegates and act as a syndicate lead when required.
• Ensure health, safety and welfare of learners, colleagues and visitors, including off‑site training venues.
• Support the annual delivery plan by identifying opportunities, broadening specialist skills, and assisting with courses outside core areas.
• Promote core values, equality, diversity and compliance with legal and ethical obligations.
• Champion a positive health and safety culture and comply with relevant legislation and FSC policies.
• Identify and proactively support welfare issues affecting personnel.

Required profile

• Qualified firefighter instructor with experience in a uniformed training environment (preferably Fire & Rescue Service or a recognised fire training establishment).
• Strong understanding of the fire sector and the Qualifications and Curriculum Framework.
• Nationally recognised training qualification (AET Level 3 minimum) plus relevant assessor awards; willingness to obtain Internal Verifier accreditation.
• Holding or working towards SFJ Level 3 BAI, SFJ Level 3 TVI, CFBTI Level 3 or equivalent.
