Forward Deployed Engineer – AI Industrial Solutions

About the role

Orbital Industries is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to bring its AI operating system, CurieOS, into customer environments. You will work hands‑on with scientists and engineers, turning ambiguous high‑value R&D problems into production‑ready software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end‑to‑end deployments across industrial R&D, writing production code, designing architectures, building integrations and debugging issues.
• Design and build systems that connect heterogeneous software, data and physical infrastructure such as simulation campaigns, digital twins, lab instruments, test rigs and CAD/PLM tools.
• Embed with customer teams to understand complex problems, translate them into technical approaches, milestones and acceptance criteria.
• Build evaluation loops with customers, defining workflow‑specific benchmarks and proving system performance.
• Own the engagement from discovery through implementation, production deployment and adoption, tracking KPIs and communicating outcomes.
• Rapidly upskill across unfamiliar scientific domains, codify successful approaches into reusable integration patterns, tooling and playbooks.
• Provide field feedback to shape the CurieOS roadmap.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of independently building, shipping and operating production software.
• Experience thriving in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments where requirements evolve through direct iteration with users.
• Ability to move fluidly between conversations with customer scientists/engineers and deep technical implementation work.
• Experience deploying software into complex production environments.
• Genuine interest in building software that enables breakthrough scientific and industrial applications.
