Freight Forwarding Manager – International Logistics

About the role

Cast UK Limited is expanding its international supply chain function and needs a confident Freight Forwarding Manager to own import, export and overall freight operations. This hands‑on position will coordinate shipments from purchase request through to final delivery, ensuring smooth movement across sea, road and air modes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily freight forwarding, import and export activities.
• Oversee inbound sea freight and support road and air freight operations.
• Coordinate shipments from purchase requirement to customer delivery.
• Handle customs clearance, supplier documentation and shipping paperwork.
• Monitor container movements, delivery schedules and freight status.
• Liaise with freight forwarders, suppliers, factories, customers and internal teams.
• Work closely with overseas teams to keep shipments on track.
• Identify and resolve supply‑chain issues quickly.
• Improve systems, processes and ways of working.
• Maintain customs compliance records and ensure HMRC requirements are met.
• Support broader operational improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong experience in freight forwarding, import/export or international logistics.
• In‑depth knowledge of sea freight and customs clearance.
• Proven ability to manage suppliers, freight partners or internal logistics processes.
• Excellent communication skills for building relationships with overseas factories and head‑office teams.
• Independent decision‑making, problem‑solving and commercial awareness.
• Attention to detail in documentation, compliance and administration.
• Ability to handle changing priorities, deadlines and shipment issues.
