General Operative – Construction & Civil Engineering

About the role

VolkerLaser is seeking a General Operative to join its Scotland team. You will work under site management to carry out a variety of construction and civil‑engineering tasks, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of construction and civil‑engineering duties as directed.
• Operate tools, plant and equipment safely in line with training and authorisation.
• Follow company procedures, method statements and risk assessments for all works.
• Maintain high standards of site housekeeping, including tool and equipment care.
• Identify and report hazards, near‑misses, defects or unsafe conditions.
• Adhere to health, safety, wellbeing and environmental policies at all times.
• Participate actively in site briefings, toolbox talks and training sessions.

Required profile

• Previous experience working on construction sites.
• Experience in concrete repair/strengthening, cathodic protection or civil works is advantageous.
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Valid CSCS card and relevant job‑specific tickets.
• Full UK‑valid driving licence.
• Willingness to apply even if not all criteria are met perfectly.
