Graduate Assistant M&E Engineer – Birmingham

About the role

RLB is looking for a motivated Graduate Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Engineer to join its Building Services team in Birmingham. This permanent, hybrid position offers hands‑on experience across a variety of sectors, including healthcare, retail, education and public‑sector developments, while supporting your progression towards professional chartership.

Key responsibilities

• Support delivery of M&E condition surveys, technical inspections and due‑diligence assessments.
• Assist in preparing preventative maintenance schedules, lifecycle replacement plans and dilapidations assessments.
• Conduct site visits to inspect mechanical and electrical systems, collect asset data and produce technical reports under supervision.
• Collaborate with project managers, cost consultants and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with quality, health, safety and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Degree (or expected degree) in Building Services, Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline with a strong academic record.
• Interest in pursuing professional membership with CIBSE, IET or an equivalent body and working towards chartered status.
• Analytical mindset, strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
