Graduate Structures Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer

About the role

Join Airbus as a Graduate Structures Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer and embark on a two‑year development journey. You will work on the co‑design and manufacture of current and future aircraft parts, applying optimisation‑driven design methods and Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles.

Key responsibilities

• Co‑design and optimise structural components and systems equipment using tools such as ToffeeAM, Ntopology and Altair Optistrut.
• Create build files for in‑house additive‑manufacturing machines and oversee post‑processing of parts.
• Apply DfAM principles with CAD tools like CATIA and 3DX, and generate Magic build files.
• Participate in data‑analytics and AI projects to characterise defects and improve inspection processes.
• Collaborate across business areas, engage with aircraft programmes and design offices, and undertake at least one rotational placement.

Required profile

• Degree (or equivalent) in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Recent graduate or first‑professional experience in the aerospace or mechanical engineering sector.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English.
• Team‑oriented mindset with a drive for innovation and self‑development.

Required skills

• Optimisation tools: ToffeeAM, Ntopology, Altair Optistrut.
• CAD software: CATIA, 3DX.
• Additive Manufacturing build‑file software: Magic.
• Understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing principles.
