Head of Physical Development & Independence

About the role

Manor Green School is seeking an experienced Head of Physical Development and Independence to lead the delivery of curriculum for students with complex needs. You will act as a class teacher responsible for students who have an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) and will help shape the school’s reputation as a Centre of Excellence for special educational needs.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess teaching for pupils with EHCPs, ensuring statutory requirements are met.
• Lead and develop a team of specialists to support physical development and independence goals.
• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary professionals to create personalised learning pathways.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to the school’s continuous improvement processes.

Required profile

• Relevant experience teaching students with special educational needs.
• Ability to meet the person specification and key accountabilities outlined in the job description.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Willingness to undergo child protection and DBS checks.

Required skills

• Proficient use of ICT for planning, assessment and communication.
