Head of Private Client (Succession) – Senior Partner

About the role

This is a genuine succession opportunity for an experienced Private Client Partner to join a top‑100 full‑service commercial law firm. The successful candidate will initially operate as a senior fee‑earner and supervisor, with a clear two‑year pathway to take full leadership of the Private Client department.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑value private client and private wealth advice to a sophisticated client base.
• Supervise and mentor a small team of fee‑earners, ensuring high standards of service and compliance.
• Gradually transition into full departmental leadership, shaping strategy and business development.
• Maintain and expand a portable network of referrers to generate new business.

Required profile

• Minimum 15 years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in England & Wales.
• Entire career focused on private client or private wealth work.
• Demonstrated team supervisory or management experience.
• Strong, portable network of professional referrers.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of private client law and wealth planning.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and risk management in a legal context.
• Ability to lead and develop a high‑performing legal team.
