Head of School – Psychiatry (Specialty)

About the role
An outstanding individual is sought to fulfil the role of Head of School in Psychiatry working across the South West. The post is a secondment from the holder's host institution to NHS England, delivering 1.5 sessions per week (6 hours) on a flexible basis. The initial contract runs until 31 October 2027 and all duties will be incorporated into the Consultant Job Plan.
Key responsibilities
- Work with and support the Postgraduate Dean in leading the delivery of a wide range of educational functions aligned to the NHS England mandate.
- Improve learner supervision, assessment and experience across the region.
- Engage faculty and ensure effective educational outcomes now and in the future.
- Provide professional and managerial accountability for postgraduate education in psychiatry.
Required profile
- Experienced clinician with a thorough understanding of education and training across the South West region.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi‑professional team.
