Head of SEND / SENCO – Post‑16 Education Setting

About the role
The college is seeking an experienced Head of SEND and designated SENCO to lead its post‑16 SEND provision. You will shape strategy, ensure high‑quality support for students with additional needs, and help them achieve academic success and independence.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the college’s SEND strategy, policies and provision.
- Manage the Inclusive Learning Support team and coordinate with teaching staff for inclusive practice.
- Oversee Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and monitor student progress.
- Coordinate support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and other additional needs.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers and external agencies.
- Deliver staff training and promote best practice across the organisation.
- Contribute to safeguarding as a member of the wider safeguarding leadership team.
Required profile
- Extensive experience working with young people with SEND.
- Recognised teaching qualification and relevant SEND qualification.
- Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
- Proven experience of leading or managing teams in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and positive outcomes for all learners.
