Head of UK Operations

About the role

Adaptyv is launching its first UK laboratory in London and needs a senior leader to own the end‑to‑end establishment and operation of the site. As the founding operator for Adaptyv UK, you will be responsible for turning a leased space into a fully functional, high‑throughput protein‑engineering lab and building the inaugural UK team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the fit‑out of the London lab, managing contractors, equipment procurement, permits, timelines and budget.
• Recruit and onboard the Head of Lab Operations and the first core team members.
• Implement and adapt the proven Swiss operational blueprint to the UK context.
• Oversee day‑to‑day business operations, including finance, compliance, vendor relationships and partner collaborations.
• Drive the lab’s strategic positioning within the UK protein‑engineering ecosystem.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience launching and scaling new operations or laboratories, preferably in biotech or high‑tech manufacturing.
• Strong leadership and decision‑making skills with a hands‑on, results‑oriented mindset.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets, complex projects and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent communication skills to work with internal stakeholders and external partners.
