Health & Safety Advisor

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to join Citizen Housing’s safety team. In this role you will help create and maintain safe working environments for employees, contractors, customers and visitors across our housing portfolio. You will work closely with senior advisors and the Head of Health & Safety to deliver advice, training and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to managers and staff across the organisation.
• Conduct audits, inspections and risk‑assessment reviews, and support teams in implementing safe working practices.
• Assist with accident and incident investigations, produce reports, analyse trends and drive learning outcomes.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training, campaigns and awareness initiatives.
• Help maintain policies, procedures and emergency response arrangements in line with legislation and best practice.

Required profile

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety, or actively working towards it.
• TechIOSH membership (or equivalent professional standard).
• Proven experience conducting health and safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the operating area.
• Experience in the housing, construction, repairs or maintenance sector (desirable).
• Experience of accident investigation and contractor monitoring (desirable).
