HGV Class 1 Driver – £37k per annum

About the role

We are seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 driver to join our client’s transport team based in Manchester. The role involves delivering and collecting goods within a 20‑mile radius, ensuring timely and safe service for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Operate HGV vehicles safely in line with road traffic laws and company procedures.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and report any defects or maintenance needs.
• Deliver and collect goods efficiently within a 20‑mile radius of Manchester.
• Load and unload goods, securing them correctly for transport.
• Maintain accurate delivery records, vehicle documentation and tachograph compliance.
• Provide excellent customer service and communicate any schedule changes to the transport team.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations and keep vehicles clean and roadworthy.

Required profile

• Valid HGV Class 1 licence held for at least 12 months.
• Previous HGV driving experience in a commercial transport environment.
• Good knowledge of road transport regulations and driver hours legislation.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and reliable, professional attitude.
• Excellent time‑management, organisational and communication skills.
• Geographical knowledge of Manchester and surrounding areas.
