Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Support for KS3‑KS4

About the role

This temporary, full‑time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) position supports pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a Manchester secondary school. It is ideal for recent Psychology or core‑subject graduates who want hands‑on experience in inclusive education.

Key responsibilities

• Assist class teachers with daily lesson delivery for KS3‑KS4.
• Provide one‑to‑one personalised learning support for children with SEND.
• Cover lessons as required and lead small‑group interventions.
• Promote positive behaviour and develop pupils' social‑emotional skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and other staff to create an inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• UK degree in Psychology or a core subject.
• Genuine passion for working with children and young people.
• Interest in supporting pupils with additional needs.
• Previous experience in a school, nursery, placement or voluntary role (preferred).
• Willingness to obtain a DBS check on the Update Service.
• Ability to provide references covering the last two years.
