Highways Maintenance Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Highways Maintenance Supervisor to lead the planning and delivery of essential highway maintenance activities across the Bromsgrove area. You will coordinate operational teams, manage resources and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards while minimising disruption to road users.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate highway maintenance works to ensure timely delivery with minimal impact on traffic and stakeholders.
• Supervise operational teams and subcontractors, promoting high performance, accountability and safe working practices.
• Procure plant, materials and manage road space bookings to keep projects properly resourced.
• Prepare work packs and documentation, ensuring compliance with Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
• Oversee site operations including safety briefings, inspections, depot management and coordination of emergency or winter service activities.
• Monitor operatives’ skills and work with the Contracts Manager to plan training and development.
• Track costs against schemes and capture any instructed changes to recover additional value.

Required profile

• Background in highways or road maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards in construction environments.
• Experience planning works, coordinating resources and managing operational teams or subcontractors.
• Ability to monitor budgets, track project performance and manage scope changes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to lead teams and respond to operational or emergency situations.
