Hospital Domestic Cleaner – Swindon

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Domestic Cleaner to join a hospital team in Swindon. You will help maintain a clean, safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, supporting infection prevention and overall hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitising surfaces.
• Clean patient areas, wards, treatment rooms, offices, toilets, corridors, waiting areas and communal spaces.
• Replenish consumables like soap, toilet rolls and paper towels.
• Carry out deep‑cleaning duties, including isolation rooms and high‑risk zones, using colour‑coded equipment to avoid cross‑contamination.
• Follow infection‑prevention procedures, focusing on high‑touch points such as door handles, bed rails and light switches.
• Adhere to Health & Safety and COSHH guidelines, wear appropriate PPE and report hazards or maintenance issues.
• Collaborate with ward teams to schedule cleaning around patient needs and communicate effectively with supervisors.

Required profile

• Previous cleaning experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
• Good understanding of hygiene standards and ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Attention to detail, reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £12.71.
• Shift pattern: 3:30 pm – 10:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
• Initial 3‑month contract with strong potential for extension or permanent placement.
