HR Advisor

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading charitable organisation for an experienced HR Advisor to join its People team. This permanent role is based in South Birmingham, offers hybrid working (2 days from home) and a salary of £37,733 per annum.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complex employee relations cases from advice through investigation, disciplinary, grievance, performance, dismissal and appeals.
• Coach and support managers to intervene early, reduce caseloads and achieve fair, business‑focused outcomes.
• Provide consistent advice aligned with employment law, case law, organisational policy and decision‑making frameworks.
• Support HR colleagues with casework insights, TUPE administration and organisational change activities.
• Share best practice, employment‑law updates and contribute to policy and guidance reviews.
• Deliver or support training and coaching for managers as required.
• Produce reports, analyse management information, identify trends and recommend action plans.
• Maintain accurate, secure casework and employee records in line with data‑protection requirements.

Required profile

• Substantial experience managing high‑volume employee relations casework end‑to‑end, including dismissals, with a focus on informal resolution.
• Strong, current knowledge of employment law, case law and HR best practice.
• CIPD Level 5 (or active study towards it) or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to produce reports, interpret management information and recommend practical actions.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management skills with resilience to manage competing priorities.
• Proactive, approachable, customer‑focused style with confidence to challenge respectfully and build stakeholder relationships.
