HR and Payroll Executive

About the role

Our client is seeking a proactive HR and Payroll Executive to join their modern Birmingham City Centre office. The role is full‑time, office‑based, 37.5 hours per week and offers a competitive salary of £30‑35k.

Key responsibilities

• Process monthly payroll for 80‑100 employees, liaising with an external payroll provider and maintaining payroll documentation.
• Maintain accurate employee records in Workday, process changes and generate HR reports for UK and European stakeholders.
• Manage the end‑to‑end recruitment cycle, including job adverts, interview coordination, onboarding and inductions.
• Support the employee lifecycle: absence management, probation, maternity, off‑boarding, training and employee relations.
• Ensure HR processes comply with legislation, assist with audits, update policies and contribute to HR projects.
• Act as the first point of contact for day‑to‑day HR queries.

Required profile

• Previous experience in HR administration, payroll or a combined role, preferably within professional services or a corporate environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Workday HR system.
