HR Officer – Temporary Contract (3 months)

About the role

This temporary HR Officer position supports a public sector organisation in Bedford during a period of organisational change. You will deliver employee‑relations and consultation services, ensuring a compassionate and professional experience for staff.

Key responsibilities

• Support collective and individual consultation processes.
• Act as the first point of contact for consultation‑related HR queries.
• Manage and triage HR inbox enquiries.
• Assist with redundancy and organisational change activities, maintaining accurate records.
• Ensure HR documentation is compliant, accurate and properly stored.
• Administer employee lifecycle tasks, including leavers processes and employment references.
• Communicate lifecycle changes to Payroll for timely processing.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HR system data.
• Produce and analyse HR reports and management information.
• Support the HR Advisory Team with administrative and project‑based activities.
• Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Recent experience supporting HR consultation processes.
• Background in HR administration, coordination or officer roles.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation abilities.
• Experience maintaining HR systems and employee records.
• Experience producing HR reports and management information.
