Infrastructure Operations Engineer – Remote (up to £61K)

About the role

A national health organisation is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Operations Engineer to drive the transformation of its Microsoft cloud estate from legacy systems to a modern Azure environment. This strategic, hands‑on role will lead Azure infrastructure, Microsoft 365, cyber security, networking and overall IT operations while managing a small team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the Azure cloud, infrastructure and cyber‑security strategy.
• Manage Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, networking and related cloud platforms.
• Lead cyber‑security operations, vulnerability management and incident response.
• Oversee infrastructure projects, cloud migrations and service improvement initiatives.
• Develop disaster‑recovery, business‑continuity and ITSM processes.
• Support development teams with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
• Coordinate external suppliers and ensure compliance with CAF, DSPT and security audits.
• Mentor and develop a small infrastructure team.

Required profile

• Proven experience with Azure infrastructure and Microsoft 365.
• Hands‑on knowledge of Intune, Entra ID, networking and PowerShell scripting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cloud transformation and IT‑operations programmes.
• Strong understanding of cyber‑security, governance and ITIL frameworks.
• Experience managing technical teams and road‑maps.
• Excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills.
