Interim Accountancy Technician – £30 per hour (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an Interim Accountancy Technician to join the Place Finance team of a Cheshire local authority on a hybrid contract basis. The role will support services such as Libraries and Housing, working closely with the Finance Business Partner on budget setting, monitoring and account closure.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation and maintenance of capital and revenue budgets.
• Provide finance support and advice to operational managers.
• Assist with budget monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Support the annual closure of accounts process.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and financial procedures.

Required profile

• Experience providing finance support to managers (essential).
• Strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial procedures, and audit principles.
• Good experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
• AAT qualification (desirable).
• Local authority or public sector finance experience (advantageous).
