Interim AI Strategy Director (Hybrid, London)

About the role

This interim position will lead the definition and delivery of an enterprise‑wide AI strategy for a global maritime and logistics organisation. Working closely with the executive leadership team, you will assess the current AI landscape and create a practical roadmap that drives commercial value across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the existing AI, data and technology environment.
• Develop a comprehensive AI strategy and implementation roadmap.
• Identify and prioritise high‑value AI use cases across commercial, operations, finance, legal, HR and other functions.
• Advise senior leadership on AI opportunities, risks, governance and best practice.
• Define the operating model, policies and controls required for responsible AI adoption.
• Support pilot initiatives and proof‑of‑concept projects where appropriate.
• Build awareness of AI capabilities among senior stakeholders.
• Provide recommendations on future investment, capability development and organisational structure.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI strategy, AI transformation or digital transformation programmes.
• Strong commercial mindset with the ability to link AI initiatives to business outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to influence C‑suite or executive‑level stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of operating credibly at senior level.

What we offer

• Competitive day rate of £1,000‑£1,500 (outside IR35).
• Hybrid working model – three days onsite per week.
• Initial six‑month contract with the possibility of extension.
