About the role
Keoghs' Retail Team is seeking to recruit an Intermediate / Multi Track File Handler to manage a caseload of non‑delegated Intermediate / Multi Track Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims. This varied and rewarding role offers an excellent opportunity to join Keoghs' thriving Corporate Sector Risk Practice, working with a range of high‑profile retail clients.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a mixed caseload of EL and PL claims, typically valued between £25,000 and £100,000.
- Assess liability, causation and quantum and provide commercially focused advice to clients.
- Develop and implement case strategies, gather evidence and draft legal documentation such as defences and witness statements.
- Attend court hearings, trials and settlement conferences, either in person or remotely.
- Supervise, mentor and coach junior team members in line with Keoghs' competency frameworks.
- Maintain accurate chargeable hours, work‑in‑progress and client management information.
Required profile
- Proven experience handling Intermediate or Multi Track EL and PL claims.
- Previous experience supervising or supporting colleagues in a legal environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented and capable of making confident decisions.
Required skills
- Proficient use of case management systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
