IT Controls Specialist

About the role

A leading UK organisation is seeking an IT Controls Specialist to join its Corporate Governance function. The role supports the enhancement of technology controls, cyber governance and enterprise‑wide risk and resilience frameworks, including preparation for future SOX readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Perform IT controls testing and ongoing monitoring across key technology processes.
• Support cyber governance initiatives and strengthen technology risk management practices.
• Conduct technology risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
• Assist with business continuity, operational resilience and disaster recovery governance.
• Deliver controls assurance reviews, certification processes and control effectiveness assessments.
• Manage control deficiencies and track remediation actions to completion.
• Support administration and development of controls management processes and governance tools.
• Contribute to governance reporting, risk committees and senior stakeholder engagement.
• Assist with the development and enhancement of technology risk and controls frameworks, including SOX readiness.

Required profile

• Background in IT Controls, Technology Risk, IT Audit (internal or external), Cyber Governance or Technology Assurance.
• Experience with IT General Controls (ITGCs) and controls testing and assurance.
• Familiarity with technology risk management and cyber security governance.
• Knowledge of SOX and/or ICOFR environments is desirable.
