Junior Engineering Geologist

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Engineering Geologist to join our Birmingham‑based ground engineering consultancy. The position offers recent graduates or candidates with up to two years’ experience the chance to work on a variety of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects, gaining hands‑on site experience alongside seasoned engineers and geologists.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with ground investigations across diverse sites.
• Log soil and rock samples to BS5930 standards.
• Supervise trial pits, window sampling and borehole investigations.
• Coordinate and oversee drilling contractors.
• Collect soil, rock and groundwater specimens for laboratory analysis.
• Carry out in‑situ tests such as CBR, soakaway and permeability.
• Prepare factual ground investigation reports.
• Support geotechnical and geo‑environmental interpretative reporting.
• Maintain health and safety compliance on all site activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to travel and work on sites throughout the West Midlands.
• Enthusiastic attitude with a desire to build a career in ground engineering.
