Junior Software Engineer (Hybrid, UK)

About the role

AVEVA is seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join the 3DVis Cloud team. You will work on cutting‑edge 3D visualisation and extended reality cloud streaming technologies that support the company’s industrial software portfolio. The role is hybrid, based in Derry/Londonderry or Cambridge, and offers the chance to grow within a scaled‑agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement defined features, bug fixes and user stories following team standards.
• Contribute to software stability and robustness by applying industry best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, SDETs and DevOps engineers to clarify requirements and deliver sprint commitments.
• Write and maintain automated unit tests and support continuous integration.
• Debug issues, improve logging and diagnostic capabilities.
• Assist in investigating production incidents and delivering preventative improvements.

Required profile

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Up to 2 years of experience in a technical or security‑related role (internships count).
• Team‑oriented with clear communication and strong organisational skills.
• Proactive, methodical attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow technically.

Required skills

• Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
• Foundational experience with C# and object‑oriented programming.
• Knowledge of software development principles such as SOLID and DRY.
• Experience with unit testing and automated testing frameworks.
• Interest or exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to debug, log and diagnose software issues.
