Junior Software Engineer

About the role

We are a UK‑based digital bank looking for a Junior Software Engineer to deliver well‑defined technical tasks. You will write high‑quality, well‑tested code, collaborate with senior engineers, and gradually take ownership of small components.

Key responsibilities

• Own and develop small technical components from requirements.
• Write clean, high‑quality code and thorough tests.
• Participate in code reviews, ask clarifying questions, and learn best practices.
• Integrate code frequently using continuous integration pipelines.
• Utilise existing documentation (Confluence, JIRA, GitHub, Postman, SwaggerHub, Slack) to gather information.
• Increase knowledge of the banking platform, regulations, and policies.
• Share learnings with the team via channels or dedicated sessions.
• Respond to on‑call incidents promptly and seek senior guidance when needed.

Required profile

• Entry‑level experience with Python or a similar language.
• Basic understanding of relational and non‑relational database design.
• Familiarity with fundamental data structures, algorithms, and web services.
• Ability to write testable code and use Git for version control.
• Willingness to learn AWS services, RESTful APIs, and event‑driven architecture.
