Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Lloyds Banking Group’s Chief Security Office is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to shape the future of cyber‑security across the organisation. You will own the design and delivery of AI‑driven security solutions, working in a hybrid environment with a focus on protecting the bank’s customers, data and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve anomaly‑detection approaches that balance performance, explainability and operational risk.
• Lead a team of Data Scientists to innovate LLM‑based security automation, including prompt engineering, RAG pipelines and model fine‑tuning.
• Collaborate with Data Engineers to build scalable, secure, production‑ready ML pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Partner with cyber‑defence, risk and compliance teams to ensure models are ethical, explainable and meet regulatory standards such as SOC2, SWIFT and SOX.
• Contribute to the Data Science Community of Practice and translate complex insights into actionable intelligence for Group COO and CSO functions.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading data‑science projects in cybersecurity, fraud or behavioural analytics.
• Strong background in data engineering and machine‑learning pipeline development.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multi‑disciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
