Lead Occupational Therapist – Mental Health (Band 7)

About the role

This is a Band 7 Lead Occupational Therapist position within the Community Mental Health Team at Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre. The role provides professional and operational leadership, expert clinical input, and supervision to occupational therapy staff working with adults experiencing mental health challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support Occupational Therapy staff across the Community Mental Health Team.
• Deliver evidence‑based individual and group interventions.
• Provide professional supervision to Occupational Therapists in the Older People’s Mental Health Team.
• Maintain clinical standards and promote the professional identity of OT within multidisciplinary teams.
• Collaborate with the Service Manager on service development, workforce planning and quality improvement.
• Engage with Lead OTs across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to align strategic initiatives.
• Contribute to wider leadership and management across the mental health service.

Required profile

• Post‑registration experience in occupational therapy.
• Demonstrated clinical leadership and advanced practice in mental health.
• Ability to communicate, influence and negotiate effectively.
• Experience in service development and quality improvement.
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, risk management and professional accountability.
• Confidence in collaborative multidisciplinary working.
