Learning Teaching Assistant – Literacy

About the role

We are seeking a Learning Teaching Assistant with a strong literacy background to join a vibrant secondary school in Wandsworth, London. The role starts in September 2026 and runs on a full‑time contract until July 2027, with the possibility of extension.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver targeted literacy interventions to support pupils with barriers to learning.
• Collaborate with the SENDCo, teachers, families and external professionals to design and implement personalised support plans.
• Monitor, evaluate and record student progress, feeding data into intervention planning.
• Promote inclusion and confidence by fostering positive relationships and encouraging independent learning.
• Contribute to the school’s SEND provision and champion reading and language development across the academy.

Required profile

• Experience working with secondary‑school students, preferably in a SEND or literacy support context.
• Ability to build effective partnerships with staff, parents and external agencies.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality and high expectations for all learners.

Required skills

• Literacy intervention techniques.
• Progress tracking and data recording.
