Lecturer – Education Focused – Science Skills

About the role

UNSW is seeking a Lecturer (Level B) to join its School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, interdisciplinary science teaching and enhancing the learning experience for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver and assess interdisciplinary, skills‑focused science courses such as SCIF1000 Capstone and SCIF1001 Research Skills.
• Develop learning activities, resources and inclusive assessment strategies aligned with UNSW policy.
• Provide one‑to‑one student support, including advice on Educational Learning Plans and equity, diversity and inclusion practices.
• Contribute to the school’s educational excellence initiatives and collaborative research‑based teaching projects.

Required profile

• Demonstrated teaching philosophy that inspires student learning.
• Experience teaching within the biological sciences or related interdisciplinary fields.
• Commitment to inclusive education and the ability to support diverse student cohorts.
• Ability to engage with real‑world scientific challenges such as climate change, public health and emerging technologies.

Required skills

• Knowledge of scientific inquiry methods, hypothesis development and experimental design.
• Understanding of research methodologies, data analysis and project‑based learning.
• Effective communication of scientific concepts to varied audiences.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract (until 31 December 2026) with a salary range of AUD 127,000–150,000 plus 17 % superannuation and leave loading.
