About the role
The Band 2 Receptionist provides a friendly, efficient front‑desk service for the maternity department, welcoming staff, patients and visitors while handling enquiries and administrative tasks.
Key responsibilities
- Greet staff, patients and visitors in a professional manner.
- Answer and direct telephone calls, record messages accurately.
- Manage email, fax, photocopying and distribution of documents.
- Receive, sort and distribute daily post and deliveries.
- File CTG records and retrieve notes from Medical Records.
- Book patients in and out of the unit and arrange scan and consultant appointments using the Oceano system.
- Print patient labels and maintain a tidy reception area.
- Order stationery, monitor supplies and report any issues to the line manager.
- Rotate between three reception desks (MUAU, DAU, main reception).
Required profile
- GCSE English and Maths at grade A‑C (or equivalent).
- Experience in public/customer service and busy office environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
- Experience using IT systems and handling confidential information.
- Good communication, organisational and multitasking abilities.
