Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics & Autonomous Systems

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a fast‑moving team developing autonomous inspection systems for extreme environments. You will own the design of mission‑critical robotic hardware from concept through to manufacture, ensuring it can survive harsh weather, corrosive conditions and high‑risk industrial spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Design field‑deployable robotic hardware that meets stringent reliability and safety requirements.
• Lead concept design, prototyping, validation and detailed mechanical design.
• Produce DFM‑ready 3D models and drawings.
• Own BOM/CBOM and manage engineering change control.
• Collaborate closely with electronics and software engineers throughout the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in a mechanical engineering role.
• Strong SolidWorks capability and a portfolio of physical product designs.
• Proven DFM discipline and documentation practices.
• Experience owning BOMs and handling engineering changes.
• Basic awareness of electronics/software to work alongside other disciplines.
• Nice to have: experience taking products from R&D to manufacture, work with harsh environments, background in aerospace/defence/energy, cable‑management or deployable mechanisms.
