Money Advice Specialist – Housing

About the role

You will join a busy social‑housing team to provide specialist money, benefits and welfare advice to residents facing financial pressure. The role focuses on income maximisation, welfare support and budgeting assistance for vulnerable households.

Key responsibilities

• Review household income, identify gaps and complete benefit checks to maximise entitlements.
• Support residents with welfare claims, appeals, mandatory reconsiderations and form‑filling.
• Provide budgeting guidance to help residents stabilise finances and manage arrears.
• Liaise with internal teams, the Department for Work and Pensions, local authorities and partner organisations.
• Maintain accurate case records, track outcomes and ensure compliance with regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar money, welfare or income‑advice role.
• Strong understanding of benefits legislation, including Universal Credit, PIP, ESA, LHA and Discretionary Housing Payments.
• Confidence in supporting vulnerable residents with complex financial situations.
• Excellent communication, empathy and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and deliver timely, accurate advice.

What we offer

• £20.47 per hour, paid weekly.
• Hybrid working – two days per week in the Manchester office.
• Option to be paid via PAYE or Umbrella.
• 28‑hour week on a 3‑month fixed‑term contract.
