Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Elevation Recruitment Group is partnering with a well‑established manufacturing business in Birmingham to hire a Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer. You will be responsible for keeping production equipment running smoothly, minimising downtime and supporting continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative, corrective and reactive maintenance on plant equipment and site facilities.
• Install, maintain and repair electrical and electro‑mechanical machinery.
• Diagnose faults and perform effective repairs to reduce downtime.
• Develop and operate preventative maintenance schedules and systems.
• Program, fault‑find and interrogate Siemens and other PLC systems.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and provide technical support to production teams.
• Read, interpret and update electrical drawings and documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Required profile

• Recognised apprenticeship or relevant technical qualifications (NVQ, ONC, HNC or equivalent).
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and diagnostic skills.
• Experience with PLCs, including fault‑finding and interrogation.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems and condition monitoring techniques.
• Ability to read, interpret and amend electrical schematics and drawings.
• Understanding of variable speed drives, IEE Wiring Regulations and safe working practices (PTW, risk assessments).
• Experience with vacuum technology, forges and presses in a medium to heavy engineering or manufacturing environment.
