Museum Director – Lead Strategic and Operational Management

About the role

The National Museum of Computing is seeking a visionary Museum Director to lead the charity’s strategic, operational and financial performance. Reporting to the Board, you will champion the museum’s mission to preserve and showcase historic computers, while delivering outstanding visitor, educational and community experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and drive the Board‑approved three‑year strategic plan.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring safety, quality, compliance, risk management and business continuity.
• Maintain strong financial stewardship and ensure long‑term financial sustainability.
• Develop and diversify sustainable income streams, identifying new growth and resilience opportunities.
• Act as an ambassador for the museum, building partnerships and enhancing its national reputation.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience in museums, heritage sites or visitor attractions.
• Proven track record of delivering strategic plans, growing income and forging partnerships.
• Hands‑on approach with ability to lead a small organisation while upholding excellent governance and operational standards.
