Narrative Designer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Narrative Designer to join our Oxford or Warwick studio and help shape the story experience across a range of new projects, from World War II settings to far‑future adventures. You will own quest and objective design and work closely with design, level, systems and UI teams to bring narrative systems to life using our in‑house engine.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement quests, objectives and narrative systems aligned with project scope.
• Collaborate with design specialisms to define all narrative content.
• Create detailed Narrative Design Documents and maintain them throughout development.
• Work with Level Design to embed quest structures into levels.
• Partner with Systems Design to integrate gameplay mechanics, quests and objectives.
• Design UI communication for quest information.
• Implement dialogue lines, manage localisation text and support audio casting and recording.
• Assist in scheduling, task tracking and estimation for narrative work.
• Communicate with programmers to iterate dialogue tools and mechanics.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Narrative Designer in video‑game development.
• Strong ability to work cross‑disciplinarily and take ownership of narrative systems.
• Excellent written communication and documentation skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to fast‑moving, varied project environments.
