National Inventory Manager

About the role

This is a high‑impact leadership position responsible for the end‑to‑end inventory lifecycle across a multi‑site national operation. You will work closely with Procurement, Supply Chain, Operations, Construction, Finance and IT to drive stock availability, optimise working capital and improve inventory accuracy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead national demand forecasting and supply planning with cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Develop and optimise inventory strategies, reorder points and stock parameters.
• Manage inventory of raw materials, finished goods and MRO stock.
• Design, implement and continuously improve inventory management processes and controls.
• Oversee ERP and inventory management systems to ensure real‑time stock visibility.
• Create KPI dashboards and inventory reports to support data‑driven decisions.
• Drive stock accuracy through audit programmes, annual stock takes and compliance procedures.
• Collaborate with suppliers and third‑party partners to minimise inventory risk and obsolescence.
• Identify opportunities to improve service levels, reduce lead times and optimise working capital.
• Build, lead and develop a high‑performing inventory team.
• Provide senior leadership with strategic recommendations on inventory performance, cost reduction and operational efficiency.
• Travel regularly to operational locations across the UK.

Required profile

• Significant inventory management experience within a large organisation.
• Proven leadership capability and ability to develop high‑performing teams.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of supply‑chain dynamics.
• Experience managing ERP and inventory management systems.
