Network Engineer (Hybrid, Birmingham/Solihull)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a small, high‑impact IT team in the Birmingham/Solihull area. The role is a blend of hands‑on engineering, network security, cloud networking and project delivery, with one day per week on‑site and the remainder remote.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support core Cisco network infrastructure.
• Lead Fortinet firewall administration and overall network security.
• Develop and maintain Cisco wireless and Meraki environments.
• Contribute to cloud networking initiatives on AWS and Azure.
• Support data‑centre migration and cloud expansion projects.
• Drive network automation and continuous improvement.
• Participate in an on‑call rota, providing remote response where possible.

Required profile

• Strong experience with Fortinet firewalls (essential).
• Proven background in Cisco routing and switching.
• Exposure to Cisco wireless and/or Meraki solutions.
• Some experience with cloud networking (AWS and/or Azure).
• Understanding of network automation concepts.
• Solid troubleshooting and operational support capability.
