Online Assistant

About the role

As an Online Assistant you will be the key link between Sainsbury's stores and our online shoppers. You will pick, pack and prepare orders, ensuring customers receive the right products in perfect condition.

Key responsibilities

• Pick high‑quality products for online orders and provide suitable substitutions when items are out of stock.
• Use a handheld device to follow a store‑wide picking route, track time limits and record selections.
• Process customer queries, update orders and assist with loading delivery vans for Home Delivery drivers.
• Maintain a clean, organised store environment and keep shopping containers tidy.
• Support colleagues across the store as needed, working flexibly to meet demand.

Required profile

• Be above the school‑leaver age in the UK and have the right to work in the country.
• Comfortable working early shifts (often starting at 4 am) and in a fast‑paced, physical environment.
• Able to lift and move shopping containers up to 15 kg.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive, customer‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Ability to operate a handheld picking device and basic digital tools.
• Basic numeracy for checking quantities and weights.
